Logitech N700 Lapdesk – Reviewed

Here I am sitting in front of my netbook, but not just my netbook all alone but rather with it comfortably seated on the Logitech Lapdesk N700. So first off I have to say that whatever was advertised on the box is delivered plus more.

The design aesthetically and physically is very nice. Aesthetically; you have the white finish (which could get dirty, maybe a black version would be nice) and physically; you have the air-mesh fabric under the Lapdesk which makes the long hours you have it on your laptop very bearable.

The question is what do we have here? Well we have a Lapdesk that is large enough to support up to 16” laptops with 2 x2w on either side. It has an awesome fan in the centre which makes for cooler laptops (especially gaming laptops). What really or rather partially seals the deal for me on this is the compatibility; you do not need to install any drivers of any sort to set it up. Just simply plug in the USB give it a few seconds and voila it is ready to go. I have come across many a device which frustrated me when this driver wouldn’t work because of some unknown reason. The device takes control of the system sound allowing you to control it easily from the buttons on the right hand side which enhances the movie experience even more. They have added a rubber holster next to the volume controls for you to place the cord in.

The cooling on this laptop makes it feasible for gamers whose laptops tend to overheat or any laptop that just garners a lot of heat due to its power; now let us just say your laptop does not use so much heat you could turn it off. Saving you power and allowing the Lapdesk speakers to be run for a longer amount of time. There are two rubber stoppers included into the packaging to raise your laptop for improved airflow.

On a whole this is something anyone who uses their laptop for media will enjoy and thoroughly appreciate. In this day and age where people tend to use their laptops for movies and TV series it can hurt watching for hours and sometimes you have poor sound which will frustrate you even more. I know for anyone that goes on a road trip this will be awesome, besides ensuring that the laptop does not killing your legs it will also provide enough sound for the person next to you hear properly and view if the screen is big enough.

I won’t lie you are not going to be packing this for every trip you go (In a business trip you might look weird walking around and trying to find space for your Lapdesk) but on trips with friends and people you are cool with and if you have the space this is something you could take even though it is a bit big.

One thing I noticed is that there is no provision for a mouse area, but then again that could also have been done for a reason. Why would they do that you may ask? This is a laptop for media, when you are watching movies you are not supposed to be fiddling around with laptop rather just sit back and enjoy the movie.

On a whole something I would recommend to most all laptop users out there as no matter what they say, we know you use your laptop to watch movies and relax. What better way to kick back then with the Lapdesk on your lap.

With a selling price of around R799.99 you would be doing yourself a favour with all the comfort you will get from it. It will be out sometime around May so prepare your budgets accordingly and get ready to kick back and relax in comfort.
